Three Features To Be On The Lookout For In Active Wear

by Bojana Graus

If you are just launching into a more active lifestyle, then you need to know that the clothing you wear while exercising or participating in your favorite sport needs to do more than look good or highlight your body. They also need to function to keep you comfortable while you are working. Knowing how to get high-performing active wear is about more than looking for the latest trends in patterns or stitching.

Waterproofing

If you plan to do a lot of trail running, you need to know that you can come across water at any time. If you get your shoes wet, not only will they get heavy, but the wet shoes can also lead to blistering. Thus, look for shoes that have integrated waterproofing membranes in them. The good news is that you don't have to look for shoes that look like hiking boots in order to find footwear that will keep your feet cool and dry.

Waterproof Pockets

If you like to listen to music while you are exercising, stuffing your phone in a mesh pocket or inside your garments might seem like a simple way to keep it out of the way. You need to keep in mind that sweat can easily penetrate through mesh pockets or through garments; moreover, sweat is especially problematic if you keep your phone next to your skin. Thus, you should look for garments that feature waterproof media pockets that are ideally placed to allow you to keep your mp3 player or phone with you while you are exercising without risking water damage.

Moisture Wicking

If you wear cotton garments, they can keep sweat next to your skin, which will leave nasty sweat stains on your clothing and allow bacteria to fester and create a stench. In order to stay comfortable and to limit the effects of embarrassing body odor, you should look for moisture-wicking garments which will help to lift moisture away from your skin and allow it to evaporate.

The above suggestions should more than indicate that buying active wear is about more than buying trendy brands or designs. It is alright to look for garments that you can wear to the store after the gym with confidence, but you should also make sure the garments you buy function the way you need them to. Knowing which features make the most sense for the type of workouts you plan to do will help to make sure that you are completely satisfied with your active wear.

About Me

Finding Appropriate Attire

For years, I worked for a company that didn't care much about what I showed up in for work. I would wear really casual clothing, such as a tank top and a pair of cut off shorts. Unfortunately, once I got a better job, my new employer was less-than-enthused about my choice of duds. She explained that they were trying to make the customers feel comfortable and improve the store culture and asked that I wear more professional attire. I started shopping for items that would look neutral, and I was able to find some pieces that I looked great in. Check out this blog to learn more about finding appropriate attire.
