3 Tips For Preserving Your Wedding Dress

by Bojana Graus

Wearing your wedding dress on your wedding day likely made you feel like a princess. You love this dress and want it to remain looking beautiful for as long as you own it. A great way to ensure that your wedding dress is taken care of is to have it preserved. This process keeps your dress in pristine condition over the years, so that you can pull it out and make a blessing dress out of it, give it to your daughter, or simply store it so that you can look at it later and bring back all of the wonderful memories. This article will discuss 3 tips for preserving your wedding dress.

Have It Cleaned Soon After Your Wedding Day

On the day of your wedding, it is almost inevitable that your wedding dress is going to get dirty. Because of this, you are going to need to have it cleaned before you ever preserve it. Since the sooner you get it cleaned the better off you are, it may be best to leave your wedding dress with a trusted family member or friend to drop off at the cleaners for you if you are leaving on a honeymoon right away. Dry cleaners and professional wedding dress cleaners are available to clean your dress for you.

Have It Properly Packaged

When it comes to having your wedding dress packaged, there are some materials that must be used. Your dress needs to be wrapped in acid free paper, as well as an acid free container to ensure that your wedding dress will be able to breathe even though the temperature outside the container will be changing. During this process, you have the option of purchasing these materials and packaging the dress yourself, or you can simply drop your dress off and pay a fee to have all of this done for you.

Store It In A Safe Location

Since storing your dress is going to be 100% up to you, it is crucial that you find a safe place to store it. Do not store it in a place where it may risk getting wet, or even in a room or location with a higher level of humidity. Also, do not store it in a location where the sun will constantly be beating down because this may cause the dress to fade, especially if the dress box comes with a plastic window to see the dress.

About Me

Finding Appropriate Attire

For years, I worked for a company that didn't care much about what I showed up in for work. I would wear really casual clothing, such as a tank top and a pair of cut off shorts. Unfortunately, once I got a better job, my new employer was less-than-enthused about my choice of duds. She explained that they were trying to make the customers feel comfortable and improve the store culture and asked that I wear more professional attire. I started shopping for items that would look neutral, and I was able to find some pieces that I looked great in. Check out this blog to learn more about finding appropriate attire.
